Bottle necked, have problems other cartridge don't when it comes to pressure. Mentioned original chamber, was not chrome in 440C, because needed the grip to keep the casing from backing out to fast/hard against the bolt face when fired. So the chamber is slightly scored with a fine grit to make that happen, which is more hand work, by good gunny. I contacted DE asked some questions about problems they had and about chamber not being chromed after. The guy who did it said not a problem, grind very light till you see copper, takes some skill, by hand to do the job he mentioned.Need a true gunsmith, that is skilled. He was.Did one for friend and then sold the reamer to me. When I bought the reamer from gunny we conversed some. Then later, asked him if I sent him the reamer and barrel if he would do the honors? He did.īut not before I tried several gunnies close to home and all said it was not a good idea/or they could not do it? Due to the problem of chamber and barrel chrome inside. The 440C evolved with me when I found a reamer on e-bay and bought it.Had a couple of barrels in 44mag one being a 10" then a very good buy came up for the gold barrel. Your mention about 44mag and 440C is right on many feel. You can load the 44mag +P+ and be close enough to 440C.That way you are not going to all the trouble and expense.Which is considerable, believe me
